Fostering the educative sustainable development

This project was born thanks to a teacher of the VET centre “Alonso de Madrigal” located in Avila. She has always fostered educative sustainable development by running different kinds of actions in her classrooms. In December 2019, she attended a guided visit to the ONU headquarter in Geneva where she realised all the possibilities existed to apply the SDGs in the educative field, mainly in Vocational Training. That’s why she began to train her VET students in Vocational Training and guidance and enterprise and entrepreneurship modules so they could visualize the SDGs by using the Visual-Design Thinking methodology. Students had to draw mind maps of sustainable business and professional projects. Afterward, secondary school students were also invited to participate in the project; they were asked to draw mind maps about actions that could be taken to apply the SDGs on a daily basis. The project turned out to be so successful that they suggested other VET centres give it a try. As a consequence of the promotion, a teacher from a VET centre located in Zamora integrated the initiative in her social macroproject “The no hunger games”.
