SUSTAINABILITY CONSCIOUSNESS OF HIGH SCHOOL STUDENTS
Aim of the study is to reveal the sustainability consciousness level of high school students, also to investigate the relationship between variables such as gender, age, grade level, type of school, education level of parents and SC level. A total of 1459 students voluntarily participated in the study held in seven different schools in a mediumsized city located in the North-West of the Black Sea region. In order to collect the data, Sustainability Consciousness Questionnaire which has been developed. Results showed that the profiles of students’ SC are at ‘medium’ level, a large majority of students have not heard of SC, and the students who said that they have heard of SC have mostly reported that they have learned SC through internet, the level of girls’ SC is higher than the boys, students’ SC levels are lower at 14-15 age group and at ninth grade, the students whose mothers have master/ Phd and are primary school graduates and whose fathers have master/ Phd and are secondary school graduates have higher levels of SC.
